Stillness

In the midst of a busy season, I can feel the need for stillness. Letting go of the to-do's, and resting in the experience of this moment.

Breathing in.

Breathing out.

Sensing the warm weight of the body.

Inviting the mind to rest.

For me, stillness isn't about stopping everything. It's about welcoming in. It's fostering a safe container for the ebb-and-flow of experience. In the pause of stillness, an inner world can open. It might feel like releasing a tight grasp. Or listening with a wide ear.

Stillness can provide an opportunity to check in with ourselves. Instead of our usual patterns - perhaps fighting busy thoughts or ignoring tight shoulders - we might turn towards our experience with a kind curiosity. I often find it's like catching up with a dear friend. It can be a relief to bring my experience into the light. It can be a solace to listen.

How about you? What does stillness mean for you?

In our next Mindfulness & Creativity session, we'll lean into simplicity and ease in our practices. We'll notice what happens when we slow down and invite the possibility of stillness.

I hope you can join us!

Hannah
