Monthly drop-in class
Sundays, 10:30am - noon MT

“If you feel something calling you to dance or write or paint or sing, please refuse to worry about whether you’re good enough. Just do it. Be generous. Offer a gift to the world no one else can offer: yourself.”

- Glennon Melton

This monthly class with Hannah Marsh is open to anyone interested in practicing mindfulness to support their creativity and well-being. Whether you’re a professional artist, an aspiring songwriter, or a self-proclaimed non-creative, a mindfulness practice can help quiet your inner critic, and unleash your natural creativity.

In each session, we will practice mindfulness meditations (e.g. awareness of breath, body scan, loving-kindness), exploring firsthand what mindfulness is, and how it can support creativity and well-being. We’ll learn to work with common roadblocks to creativity, like the inner critic, the tired or distracted mind, the infamous writer’s block, and the fear that can arise when we step outside our comfort zone. Our mindfulness practice will teach us to be more compassionate with ourselves, more open and attentive, more clear in our intentions, and less fearful of taking creative risks - not just in our creative process, but also in our day-to-day lives.

Both new and experienced meditators are welcome.

How to Join Us

In-person classes are offered at Healing Connections Wellness Centre in Edmonton, AB - 10548 115 Street - in the 2nd floor studio.

Please arrive a few minutes before 10:30am to get set up. To keep the space secure, the entrance will be locked at 10:35am.

We'll continue to offer some classes online via Zoom. To be notified of upcoming classes, subscribe to our newsletter below. To join our next online class, contact Hannah at hannah@beinghere.ca

What to Bring

If you'd like, you’re welcome to bring your own notebook, pen, and meditation pillow/bench.

Healing Connections will provide chairs and yoga props that can be used for meditation (cushions, mats, blocks). Paper and pens will also be available.

How to Give

This class is offered by donation (dana). Dana is a practice of generosity that traditionally goes hand-in-hand with a mindfulness practice. You're invited to give with an open heart, whatever amount feels good to give. If you're uncertain, a suggested donation is $10-25, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. We're grateful for your contribution, which supports the continued running of our programs. Dana can be offered in person, sent by e-transfer to hannah@beinghere.ca - or you can contact us for other options.

Mindfulness & Creativity was developed by Hannah Marsh, based on practices and principles of MBSR. Classes have been running since 2018, first offered through The Mindfulness Institute.ca.
